Charitable Donation Requests
We are proud to have provided thousands of dollars in grants to organizations and events like The Shaw Airmen's Attic, Spouse Appreciation Day, Library Summer Reading Program, Angel Tree, Dorm Airmen Cookie Drive, Girl Scouts, Sumter United Ministries, Sumter HS Gamecock Poppers and many more in fiscal year 2024-2025. These grants supported essential needs for our Team Shaw military members and families, as well as our local community.
The Shaw Spouses Club (SSC) encourages organizations that serve the military and/or local community to submit requests for funding through the form below.
ELIGIBILITY:
-Requesting organization must be a non-profit org, school or military organization. Funds cannot be given to individuals or for-profit businesses.
-The SSC will not provide monetary support to any political candidate or partisan political cause.
-The SSC will prioritize providing grants to organizations/projects that support the general welfare of Shaw AFB military members, their families, and veterans, then to our local community. This includes, but is not limited to, organizations which are responsible for charitable, religious, scientific, literary, or educational activities.
RULES:
-All groups seeking funding should complete the Charitable Funds Donation Request form.
-Under normal circumstances, organizations are only allowed to receive funds once per fiscal year. Exceptions will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Note: The fiscal year runs from 1 June to 31 May.
-SSC funding will not be used to purchase alcohol.
-SSC funding should be used for specific programs, events, or services that benefit our local community. Funds cannot be approved for “General Operating Funds” or “Salaries.”
THE APPLICATION PROCESS:
-The SSC meets the 1st Tuesday monthly between August and May to review and make determinations for charitable donation requests.
-Requests must be submitted at least 10 days prior to our monthly Board Meeting to be reviewed and voted upon at that next meeting. Requests that are submitted less than 10 days prior will be carried over to the next month’s Board Meeting – please plan ahead.
-All requests are determined on a “first come, first serve” basis. Funds are awarded as requests are submitted and approved throughout the year.
-No group is guaranteed funding approval. Approval depends on eligibility status, compliance with audits/documentation, and funding availability each year.
-The SSC may approve a Request for funding but not award the original amount requested. Grant amounts may be lower or higher depending on available funding resources, program impact, etc.
